Born out of necessity. This was a case of 'bringing the mountain to Muhammad'. Many of our current patients run the gauntlet between Rotorua and The Mount/Tauranga to see us and with athe lack of independent optometry and choice in Rotorua the decision to invest heavily in the region was a no brainer. The opportunity to purchase and restore the old homestead on Pukaki street was too hard to pass up. The character of the building, the location........... the parking, suited us to a tee.
From go to woah, 2 months of hard yakka have brought the ol' girl back to life in her latest iteration. From Stuart and his Fathers Blood ,sweat and Beer tears on the edge of a sledge hammer and the work of a few wiley local contractors, Blur has found a little piece of Rotorua to call home.
Make no mistake about it, this is no slapstick half ass job. Entering Blur Rotorua you will find the same technology, eye wear and enthusiasm that we are known for. As Stuart likes to say, " We are not here to copulate with arachnids, if we are going to do it, we are going to do it properly.'
Our specs & sunglasses are mostly direct-from-source boutique eyewear makers. You may or may not have heard of Anne et Valentin, Theo, or Michel Henau, but they are some of the designers that characterise the optical industry at the pointy end of things. These designers are the people that influence industry and whose ideas the ’big name’ brands rip off. Our three stores carry a similar array of pieces, but each collection varies in models and colours. Imagine 2 meals much the same but with different spices. Lens-wise, we prefer to use Zeiss lenses from Germany.
