Hand built by locals. The new addition to the Blur Eyecare optometrist stable has been open in Mt Maunganui since August ’15. Nic Clegg & Paul Mossong were the men to turn Stu & Haidee’s ideas into the work of art that the Mount optometrist store is. Nic is a Manchester-born metal work sculptor extraordinaire and Paul is the same guy, but with wood as the benefactor of his genius. Inspired by the trees in Stuart’s mind, the interior of our Mount store is an indoor forest all wrapped up in a shop. We are a staff of qualified Mt Maunganui Optometrists & Dispensing Opticians and dispensing opticians. Stuart Laing and Haidee Mannix are our married to each other and married to the business optometrists. Natasja Thomas is our Dispensing Optician turns ideas into reality out front. following 15 years of experience round the traps.

Our specs & sunglasses are mostly direct-from-source boutique eyewear makers. You may or may not have heard of Anne et Valentin, Theo, or Vinylize, but they are some of the designers that characterise the optical industry at the pointy end of things. These designers are the people that influence industry and whose ideas the ’big name’ brands rip off. Both of our two optometrist stores carry a similar array of pieces, but each collection varies in models and colours. Imagine 2 meals much the same but with different spices. Lens-wise, we prefer to use Zeiss lenses from Germany.
